"Aquatic Quarters United Association invites you to join a new world creation. Grow your underwater creatures, complete quests, challenge others. Become the best!" More about this project here: http://aquagame.co/

I recently directed an animated trailer for a  videogame project called A.Q.U.A. The game is still in development, so I had to do everything: I adapted the preliminar storyboard and pre-existing designs, creating backgrounds and creatures to make "fake screens" for the videogame. I also directed the animation and supervized all the visual part, hiring a small team to work with me. Please check out our process below!

Some vector background elements I did , adapted from Pavel's preliminary sketches...
Background Process : 1- Trace the vector lines and fill the shapes ; 2- Color balance, texturize, and export ; 3- Adding some particules, effects and blurs during the compositing step.
Few exemple of backgrounds I did this way for the exploration mode
Creatures: I drew the layout of each pose, then I traced the vectors and build the creatures for preparing them to the animation step.
Animation Process: Here is our test shot to fit the render references sent by our client. The first step was to create the animatic of the trailer and separate each shot to optimize our work.

After making the layout and key frames, I completed the animation step. Kosal worked besides me to create frame per frame impressive special effects for the battle shots. At the end, Guillaume worked on the compositing step. He created beautiful space and underwater atmospheres, adding lights, particules and other effects.
